Moshe Bear Ean Richards

Moshe Bear Ean Richards, age 12, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family on April 19, 2018.

Moshe was a Newfoundland born on November 29, 2005, in Fairmount, Indiana, and was adopted and raised by Troy, Trish, Jessica, and Nicklaus Richards in Gas City.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Precious Richards, and cousin, Mr. Peanut Elliott Tyler Richards.

Moshe was a sweet puppy that loved to be with his people. Everyone who met him fell in love with him, too. Although he was a Newfoundland and shared the breed’s massive size and intimidating build, Moshe was always friendly and loving of everyone that he came into contact with. And even though he shed his hair during every season of the year, and didn’t realize how huge he was when he would excitedly run up to greet people, everyone reciprocated his excitement when they saw him. Not only our family, but countless others were blessed with his calm demeanor and fun company.

Never in our wildest dreams did we expect the love and support that we received upon his passing. From the families of the children that Trish babysat who grew up with Moshe calling and sending their thoughts and prayers, to the friends and families of Jessica and Nicklaus who spent years with Moshe during their birthday parties and hanging out at the house, it was evident that Moshe meant far more to our community than we could have ever imagined.

He was what every family dreams of that first day they pick up their puppy. He was strong and brave and protected us whenever he thought something was wrong. He was loving and kind and was always ready to play. He was sweet and gentle with young kids and was always ready to lay on the couch with his family and just watch T.V. Moshe changed our family forever, and we will always be grateful for the years we spent with him.
