Harley Wine

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Harley Wine crossed the rainbow bridge on Friday, April 1, 2022, surrounded by his loving parents. In the wake of such a difficult loss, we feel undeniably blessed and honored to have shared the past 13 years with our sweet Harley, a boy who had an incredible story of humble beginnings, redemption, and second chances.

In 2009, Harley was adopted by his dog mom, Elizabeth Mathews, when she was just 13 years old. When he first arrived, Harley was a young, timid boy searching for someone to love him. It took little time for Harley and Elizabeth to create an unbreakable bond, and she devoted her time to nurturing him into becoming a confident and well-mannered gentleman. He and Elizabeth eventually became therapy volunteers for a local retirement home, whose residents always looked forward to their visits.

In 2014, Harley was co-adopted by Chris and Megan Wine when Elizabeth went to college. Harley enjoyed daily walks to the woods, and he could often be seen riding around through town with Chris. Harley offered unconditional love and support to his parents, especially when they needed it the most. He leaves behind innumerable memories, and he will always be remembered as the sweetest boy they could have ever asked for.

Along with his parents, Harley will be missed by his feline sister, Fauci, with whom he often shared his food. He will also be missed by his grandparents, Howard and Lou Ann Wine, and numerous family members whose lives were touched by him. He is preceded in death by one of his special people, Debbie Mathews, who very much loved him.

Harley endured a painful battle with cancer at the end, and we thank Dr. Ratliff and his staff at Comfort Veterinary Hospital who provided him with the best care throughout the years, especially by keeping him comfortable in his final days.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Trusted Journey, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
